What it does
Editable templates
Output formats are defined in templates you can open and change yourself — 834, delimited, and fixed-width — instead of being locked into a vendor's black box.
Reads what you already have
Load data from CSV, Excel, an existing 834 file, JSON (including saved API pulls), or a scheduled API pull — mapped into a common data model in a few configuration steps.
Delivers the file
Send finished files by SFTP with PGP encryption built in. Host keys, sends, and resends are all logged, and nothing goes out twice by accident.
Sandboxed by design
Templates run inside a memory- and time-limited sandbox with no file, network, or process access — a bad template can't reach outside the run it's part of.
Change tracking & history
Every run is cached and logged. Production runs stay "pending" until sent or marked delivered, and a run can be rolled back exactly if something needs to be redone.

System requirements
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
- A shared config folder for your templates and settings — a local folder, a network share, or a synced folder (e.g. OneDrive) if more than one person will run it
- Internet access for SFTP delivery, license checks, and update checks (all outbound only)
- A valid EDI Template Studio license key (issued after purchase)
The application checks in periodically to confirm your license is active and to check for updates. No benefits data ever leaves your machine except through the SFTP delivery you configure yourself.
Licensing
EDI Template Studio is sold on an annual license — not per employee, not per file run. Support tiers range from general Q&A to full template build support.
